New Heaven and New Earth

New Heaven and New Earth

The New Creation is the eschatological prophecy that heaven and earth will be transformed - the old creation replaced, the Tree of Life made accessible, and the righteous raised to dwell in eternal light. In the visionary traditions of the antediluvian sage Enoch, the promise of cosmic renewal emerges as the ultimate resolution to the disorder introduced by the Watchers and the violence that followed. These ancient writings depict a creation defiled by rebellion yet destined for thorough purification, after which the faithful receive an inheritance free from the curses of the present age. This theme weaves through the Enochic corpus as both judgment and restoration, underscoring divine justice that first removes evil before establishing enduring peace. Central passages elaborate the process in concrete terms. The Book of Enoch describes the earth being cleansed of all corruption so that the elect may possess it in righteousness, with the binding of the fallen angels serving as the necessary prelude to renewal. A further vision reveals the tree of life planted on the mountain of God, its fruit reserved exclusively for the righteous, granting them vitality and longevity in the transformed order. The Book of Jubilees echoes this trajectory, portraying a future era in which heaven and earth are made new and the covenant people dwell securely under renewed laws of righteousness, free from the afflictions brought by sin. Within the wider Enochian tradition these motifs function less as abstract eschatology and more as encouragement for communities facing oppression. The texts insist that present suffering forms part of a larger divine plan culminating in tangible restoration rather than mere spiritual escape. Although the Book of Jasher focuses primarily on patriarchal history, its narrative framework aligns with the same expectation that the earth, once purged, will again sustain the faithful in harmony with the Creator’s original intent. Together these writings present renewal not as an afterthought but as the necessary outcome of divine faithfulness.

A1nd he said unto me: 'Enoch, why dost thou ask me regarding the fragrance of the tree, and why dost thou wish to learn the truth?'

2 Then I answered him saying: 'I wish to know about everything, but especially about this tree.' 3 And he answered saying: 'This high mountain which thou hast seen, whose summit is like the throne of God, is His throne, where the Holy Great One, the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King, will sit, when He shall come down to visit the earth with goodness. 4 And as for this fragrant tree no mortal is permitted to touch it till the great judgement, when He shall take vengeance on all and bring (everything) to its consummation for ever. It shall then be given to the righteous and holy. 5 Its fruit shall be for food to the elect: it shall be transplanted to the holy place, to the temple of the Lord, the Eternal King. 6 Then shall they rejoice with joy and be glad, And into the holy place shall they enter; And its fragrance shall be in their bones, And they shall live a long life on earth, Such as thy fathers lived: And in their days shall no sorrow or plague Or torment or calamity touch them.' 7 Then blessed I the God of Glory, the Eternal King, who hath prepared such things for the righteous, and hath created them and promised to give to them.
