Mesopotamia is the land between the Tigris and the Euphrates to the north of the Chaldees to the border of the mountains of Asshur and the land of 'Arara. It was the fourth portion that came forth for Aram. Jacob went to Mesopotamia to the house of Bethuel and to Laban the Syrian. Laban later departed into Mesopotamia, called the land of the East.
