What is the Apocalypse of Weeks?

The Apocalypse of Weeks is Enoch's compressed vision of all history divided into exactly ten weeks - from Creation through the final judgment and the new heaven - providing the most systematic overview of the divine plan in the entire Enochic corpus. Found in 1 Enoch 91 and 93 within the Epistle of Enoch, it forms part of the closing section of 1 Enoch chapters 91-108 that also holds woes and exhortations (1 Enoch 91 and 93).

This prophecy traces seven weeks of decline followed by three weeks of judgment and restoration, with each week defined by one pivotal event that characterizes the period, such as the birth of righteousness, the giving of the law, the temple's construction, and the eternal judgment. The vision frames history as moving toward a predetermined consummation and places the resurrection precisely in the eighth week (1 Enoch 91 and 93).

It is one of the earliest datable parts of the Epistle, and in the manuscripts the text runs 93:1-10 then 91:11-17. The framework influenced later apocalyptic literature's use of numbered periods while recording supernatural revelation that discloses hidden truths across generations (1 Enoch 91-108).
