Ashur
Ashur is named as a son of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid and wife of Jacob, who bore unto Jacob Gad and Ashur. Ashur is also listed among the sons of Shem as Elam, Ashur, Arpachshad, Lud and Aram. Ashur son of Shem went forth with his children and household to a distant land where they found an extensive valley, and the children of Ashur built the cities Ninevah, Resen, Calach and Rehobother where they dwell unto this day.
